Magazine-publishing insiders across the country and residents of southeastern Wisconsin now have a deeper understanding of Kalmbach Publishing Co. thanks to media coverage of the company's 75th anniversary. A TV segment, two magazine articles, and a newspaper feature story highlight the coverage.

Coverage kicked off in late March, when a local radio station included a story on Kalmbach's 75th during one of its news segments.

On March 26, Milwaukee's FOX 6 hosted Kalmbach Executive Vice President Chuck Croft and Vice President, Editorial, Kevin Keefe on the set of its morning show, "FOX 6 WakeUp News."

The show's host, Mark Concannon, spoke with Croft and Keefe about Kalmbach's continued success despite the difficult times both for the economy and the magazine industry; its diversity of products; and its plans for future growth. The three men sat around a table that displayed various Kalmbach products for the three-minute segment that also featured footage from company headquarters.

Folio: magazine profiled Kalmbach President Butch Boettcher in the 2009 edition of "Folio: 40" — the publication's annual list of industry influencers and innovators. The profile appeared in the "Under the radar" category. Folio: published the entire list on its web site and in its April 2009 issue.

Media Industry Newsletter (MIN) Editor Steve Smith interviewed Kevin Keefe for its April 3 story, "Passion Play: Kalmbach's 75 Years of Enthusiast Media."

On Sunday, April 19, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel ran a feature article, "Kalmbach still at play at 75" on the front page of the Waukesha section. Three full-color images accompanied the article in the print edition. Reporter Darryl Enriquez and a Journal Sentinel photographer toured the building April 13 to gather information and take pictures. Enriquez interviewed Kevin Keefe while at Kalmbach.

The Business Journal of Greater Milwaukee published an article, "Kalmbach still focusing on producing print product," in its May 15, 2009, print edition. The local business publication's Rich Rovito toured Kalmbach and interviewed company President Butch Boettcher for the article.

In addition to the media taking an interest in the company's 75th anniversary, two Kalmbach business partners promoted it as well. Advantage Computing Systems and Quad Graphics both included mention of the 75th in their company newsletters.
