October 31, 2006 WAUKESHA, WI — Kalmbach Publishing Co.'s Astronomy magazine received the 2006 Bronze Eddie Award for excellence in editorial achievement. The Eddie and Ozzie Awards recognize superiority in editorial content and magazine design, respectively, and are presented each year by Folio magazine, the magazine of magazine management.
The Eddie competition is unique to the industry in that judges evaluate entries on how well the magazines fulfill their mission statements, which are submitted alongside the entries. This year the prestigious competition included more than 2,200 entries in 90 categories, and more than 100 expert judges spent months assessing submissions.
In the "Enthusiast (Art, Hobbies, and Crafts)" category, Astronomy competed with many other titles, including Fine Woodworking and The Bark, which won the gold and silver, respectively. The winners were announced October 22 at the 2006 Folio: Awards Gala dinner at the Cipriani Restaurant in midtown Manhattan.
