ie11

I can't login.
Internet Explorers latest edition of IE11 is not fully compatible with our sites. We recommend viewing the site in the compatibility view.

Under the Tools menu, click “Compatibility View Settings” to add our website. The website address will prepopulate in the “Add this website” box.  You will only need to then click the Add button and then Close.  The site will automatically reload in the compatibility view.  You should then be able to access all site features. Should you continue to experience further challenges, we would then recommend trying a different browser. We apologize for any inconvenience this has caused.

I can see all my account information but when I go back to the Website I am logged out again.

I am having problems logging into my account.
There are several things that can prevent proper login or access to your account. Most of these are the result of settings on your local computer and may require you to do some investigation and settings changes on your end.

The basic steps to log into your account are:

Open a browser window.
Go to the magazine site.
Enter your username and password. (Or click on LOGIN and then enter username and password)
Click the 'Sign in' button.

Cookies must be enabled and not blocked in your browser settings. Once you have verified that cookies are enabled, please try clearing all cookies. Please refer to the "Cookie" sections of this FAQ for detailed instructions on enabling and clearing cookies.

Passwords are case sensitive. Make sure that both the Caps Lock and Num Lock keys are turned off on your keyboard.

Please verify that you are using the correct password by requesting your user information. This will email your current password to the email address that is registered with your account. If you do not receive the email check your JUNK/SPAM/BULK folder OR the email may have been sent to an older email address that you registered with.

Please check the following list for additional things to check or consider:

  • Have you ever been able to log in to from this computer or using this browser?
  • Have you changed any security settings on your computer recently or added any browser extensions?
  • Firewalls and anti-virus software need to allow kalmbach.com and browser security setting should be at 'medium'. You may need to consult the 'Help' provided with your browser for details on viewing and/or changing the current security level.
  • AOL uses proxy servers and normal sessions do not always work right. To fix: AOL: settings -> essentials -> internet options -> privacy ... drag the bar to the bottom to where it says accept all cookies.

Why do I need cookies enabled?
Without cookies we have no way of knowing who you are. To gain access to the cool features of our sites cookies must be enabled. Here is a helper guide on how to enable cookies.

I am using Compuserve and I can't login
CompuServe 7.0 is not compatible with our websites; however, 6.0 is. If you are using CompuServe 7.0 you need to access our website from another browser such as Internet Explorer or Mozilla, or contact your Compuserve provider for details on how to go back to the 6.0 version.

I have Webroot/Spy Sweeper installed and can't log in
Webroot/Spy Sweeper sees our cookie as a tracking cookie. We use cookies to tell who you are and if you are a subscriber. We store info about this on your computer. A tracking cookie is something that tracks where you go on a web site and what you do. That is not what our cookie does at all, so we are not sure why it blocks it. To get logged into the web site the shield setting needs to get changed to allow tracking cookies in Webroot/Spy Sweeper.

To make this change in Webbroot/Spy Sweeper on the Shields tab there are web browser shields. If you 'shield' Tracking cookies it will make you log into the site when ever you go to a new section. If you uncheck the Tracking cookies 'shield' you will not have to re-log in.

I have McAfee Privacy Service and can't log in

In McAfee Privacy Service there is a setting to allow cookies by site. You may have to add the magazine web site here so you can log in.

I have CA Security installed and I can't log in
CA Security sees our cookie as a persistent cookie. To get logged into the website the cookie setting in CA Security needs to be set at medium.

To change this setting in the CA Security Center go to Privacy - Manage Cookies and uncheck the box that says 'Block persistent cookies'.
