Bead&Button Show launches new fall jewelry-making retreat

Registration opens April 4 for Creative Connections, an inspiring three-day jewelry-making retreat Oct. 13-15, 2018, in amazing Asheville, North Carolina. Creative Connections is an offshoot of the popular Bead&Button Show, held for 18 years in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

Creative Connections offers jewelry-makers the opportunity to take a workshop with one of six visionary instructors: Nancy Cain, Robyn Cornelius, Adrienne Gaskell, Kieu Pham Gray, Cynthia Rutledge or Sarah Thompson. Featured techniques include peyote stitch, soldering, cutting glass, shaping cabochons, finishing, kumihimo, bezeling, and layering and shaping silver and wire. The technique-driven workshops will help jewelry-makers take their skills to the next level, all while having a great time in the artistic, unique setting of Asheville.

“We know jewelry-makers are always looking for ways to expand their knowledge, so we wanted to create something exciting and creative for them apart from our already successful Bead&Button Show,” said Sara Dumford, Director of Events for Kalmbach Media, owner of the Bead&Button Show and Creative Connections. “Asheville is the perfect place to learn, have fun, build community with other jewelry-makers and just get inspired.”

The retreat kicks off with a welcome social on the evening of Friday, Oct. 12, leading into the workshops, which begin Saturday, Oct. 13 and run through Monday, Oct. 15. Workshops will be held at the Crowne Plaza Resort, 1 Resort Drive in Asheville.

Early-bird registration starts April 4 and runs through July 15. The early-bird rate is $993 and includes a three-day class with one instructor, lunch each class day, the Oct. 12 welcome social and an Oct. 14 instructor showcase and gathering. Kit fees are additional and vary per instructor. Hotel reservations are made separately under a group registration found here: Crowne Plaza Reservations, Group Code KAL.

Workshops are small by design (between 15 and 20 students per workshop) and expected to fill quickly so early-bird registration is suggested. A wait list will be created once the slots are filled.
